Day 1 Tue - Departure From USA

Board your international flight to Cairo and begin your journey back in time to this charming, ancient land.

Day 2 Wed - Cairo

Arrival in the Land of the Pharaohs. At Cairo International airport you will be welcomed by our representative, and , then escorted to your hotel.

Day 3 Thu - Cairo

Morning visit to the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities which includes the world’s largest collection of Pharaonic artifacts and the treasures of Tutankhamen’s tomb. Then drive to Old Cairo to visit Al Moallaka Church (Hanging Church) and Ben Ezra Synagogue. Stop for lunch, afternoon visit to the Great Pyramids of Giza and the enigmatic Sphinx, then proceed to Khan El Khalili, the world’s largest 13th century covered oriental bazaar. Overnight in Cairo.

Day 4 Fri - Cairo, (Optional Full Day Alexandria)

Free day for shopping, sightseeing or simply wandering through the city’s fascinating streets and byways. (Optional: overday excursion to Alexandria $160, by private car accompanied by an English-speaking Egyptologist: visit the Catacombs of Kom El Shugafa, the Fortress of Qait Bay, the National Museum and Alexandria Library “Bibliotheca Alexandrina”).

Day 5 Sat - Cairo, Luxor (Optional Sound & Light Show Karnak)

Morning flight to Luxor. Upon arrival you will be met and escorted to your cruise ship where you will spend the next 7 nights 8 days. Accommodation aboard your cruise ship will consist of outside junior suite cabin with private facilities. Visit the West Bank necropolis including the Valley of the Queens, the funerary temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir El Bahari and the Colossi of Memnon. (Evening; optional Sound & Light Show at the Karnak Temple). Overnight in Luxor.

Day 6 Sun - Luxor, Edfu

Early morning sailing, passing through the Esna Lock and continue sailing for the remainder of the day towards Edfu. Tonight a very special costume party, Egyptian and Pharaonic style “gallabeya party”. Overnight in Edfu.

Day 7 Mon - Edfu, Kom Ombo, Aswan

Travel by horse-drawn carriage to the Temple of Horus, the falcon-god, considered the best-preserved temple in Ancient Egypt and the second largest after the Temple of Karnak. Sail to Kom Ombo where you will visit the Ptolemaic Temple of Sobek & Haroeries. Then sail to Aswan and overnight.

Day 8 Tue - Aswan (Optional Sound & Light Show Philae)

Visit the High Dam, the Granite Quarries with the Unfinished Obelisk and the Temple of Philae. Sail on board a felucca, a typical Egyptian sailboat, and view Kitchener’s Botanical Garden and the Aga Khan Mausoleum. (Evening; optional Sound & Light Show at the Philae Temple). Overnight in Aswan.

Day 9 Wed - Aswan, Kom Ombo, Edfu (Optional Abu Simbel Tour)

Morning free at leisure (or you may participate in an optional tour to Abu Simbel: visit the colossal Temple of Ramses II and the temple of his beloved Queen Nefertari, both temples carved out of a hillside beside the Nile in the 13th century BC). Afternoon sail to Kom Ombo, then on to Edfu.

Day 10 Thu - Edfu, Luxor

Sail to Esna, day is free at leisure to enjoy the facilities of your luxury cruise swimming pool. Overnight in Luxor.

Day 11 Fri - Luxor, Dendarah

Early morning breakfast, then drive to Qena to visit Dendarah, one of the most beautiful complexes dedicated to Hathor, goddess of life and fertility; back to Luxor. In the early evening, visit to the temple of Luxor and overnight in Luxor.

Day 12 Sat - Luxor, Cairo (Optional Half Day Cairo Tour)

Breakfast on board your cruise ship, disembarkation and visit Karnak Temple, a home hosted dinner (on 2009), hypostyle halls, statues, shrines and obelisks. Transfer to Luxor airport for your flight to Cairo. Arrival and transfer to your hotel and balance of day at leisure (or you can take an optional tour to the ruins of the city of Memphis and the necropolis of Sakkara site of the Step Pyramid of Zoser, $50). In the evening, Home hosted dinner with an Egyptian family: relish an oriental home cooked meal and experience a home away from home! Feel the warmth of the local people and enjoy a delicious meal.
